Bruce Tulloch

Bruce’s education and background has been interestingly varied. Some years were spent at Lewis & Clark College in Portland and Western Washington College of Bellingham, studying sociology, elementary education and speech therapy. Next came time studying at Moody Bible Institute of Chicago and Moody Aviation in Tennessee. The goal was to become a jungle pilot/mechanic and government relations liaison for a linguistic organization. Life took a different direction and included several years as a general aviation mechanic in the Seattle area and then nearly 30 years as a pilot, fishing fleet manager, commercial fisherman and marine broker in Alaska and a stint as a realtor back in Washington’s Puget Sound area.

Alaska chapter: Bruce initially went to Alaska to gain flight experience before going overseas with the Wycliffe Bible Translators’ support arm, JAARS (Jungle Aviation And Radio Service), however, family needs precluded living in a remote area overseas. Bruce flew and maintained float aircraft for a charter firm and then purchased his own plane and secured a contract with one of Alaska’s largest seafood processors. This included a variety of activities including all facets of fleet support and management, medivacs, competitive fish spotting, liaison with the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game (ADFG), aerial stream surveys, plotting passageways for the fishing fleet through the Bering Sea ice pack in Western Alaska, taking buyers on PR tours, supporting remote fish buying stations and transporting/supporting all levels of management personnel.

After nearly 10,000 hours in the cockpit Bruce transitioned into the SE Alaska fleet manager’s office to prepare budgets, forecast catches, negotiate contracts, act as liaison between the large and varied fishing fleets and the Seattle based corporate structure, work with the ADFG for appropriate management of the fisheries resources and coordinate 10 + separate fisheries involving over 400 commercial fishing vessels (all independent owners and crews). Next on the agenda was 12 years as a marine broker - brokering commercial fishing vessels and the various permits for Alaska fisheries. The Tullochs also tried their hands as commercial fishermen (one season!) and purchased a 38’ gillnetter and permit. This proved profitable for learning and experiences only!

Kalispell: Bruce and his wife Benita then moved to Kalispell, bringing their marine brokerage with them while Bruce transitioned back into real estate brokerage. This move brought the Tullochs closer to their 8 children and 13(+) grandchildren. Bruce is now a real estate broker and has begun his own brokerage firm - Montana Land And Home, Inc. (www.MontanaLandAndHome.com) He is also the Bloomstone in-house Broker, handling all the marketing, and with Benita, all the promotional aspects of the development. Benita’s background in marketing and communication has proven invaluable. The Tulloch’s enjoy boating, camping, airport hopping in their Cessna 180, traveling/exploring, reading, grandchildren and various church ministries and learning ventures.
